Lunch & Learn: Fresh Designs for the Season
with the American Society of Interior Designers Ct Chapter

Kaoud Carpets & Rugs of Wilton hosted a Lunch and Learn event in their designer showroom space on October 16th.  Fred, Isam, Joanne, and Cindy Kaoud welcomed the designers with a raffle ticket for each and a delicious Middle Eastern luncheon buffet.
Isam was informative and interesting as he explained the different properties of wool and silk handmade rugs and how the cost is affected by the percentage of silk in the finished product.  It was particularly interesting to learn that antique silk rugs were  made as gifts to kings, which is why they are so valuable and rare.  Another pearl of wisdom is this. Isam says that those of us who think we should have our rugs cleaned every year should resist the urge.  Cleaning handmade oriental rugs more frequently than every three to five years strips the lanolin from the wool and shortens the life span of the rug.
